Moderation, leaderboards, and why relative progress beats absolute numbers.
If you build a global leaderboard based on total weight lifted, it will be dominated by 300lb powerlifters, and normal users will feel alienated.
Relative Metrics
Rank users based on consistency (workouts per month) or relative strength (weight lifted relative to body weight). Or better yet, don't have global leaderboards at all. Limit competition to small groups of invited friends.
